			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Chairman of the Mayor’s Commission to Combat Police Corruption, Mark Pomerantz resigned last Tuesday, one day after a City Council Public Safety Committee hearing where he testified that his commission has faced “lack of cooperation by the Police Department” in fulfilling its mission.<br />
Pomerantz, who will step down on June 1st, said that his resignation had been tendered a month before the hearing on April 18th. But the timing was, in any event, a culmination of criticism that the NYPD has been facing for months.</p>
